A short piece in ternary form, possessing a charmingly bright character, rather than the mournful tone suggested by its title "Elegy". It is distinguished by a sprightly melody. In the middle section, the melody is divided into smaller note values and elaborately ornamented. The frequent use of trills observed in this section is characteristic of early Ravina, and at the same time, became established as one of the common idioms of salon music published in 19th-century Paris.
