From the Composer
Piano compositions constitute the most significant domain within my oeuvre. The majority of my works are dedicated to the piano. The piano was my musical language. The reason for this stems from my spiritual inclination. Having been born and raised in a northern land, I possessed an innate disposition to concentrate expression internally rather than expanding it externally. The piano, capable of expressing everything through the ten fingers of a single performer, was an ideal language for me. Furthermore, the constant support and collaboration of exceptional pianists, including Ryoko Fukazawa, who premiered and re-performed most of my pieces, and Rika Miyatani, who premiered the grand and challenging “Passacaglia,” were fateful factors that determined my trajectory.
This collection comprises a selection of works composed over the decade from 2000 to approximately 2010. Pieces from this period not included herein are slated for future publication. In terms of difficulty, it encompasses pieces across all levels, from the most elementary to those suitable for advanced concert performance. While difficulty is categorized into three levels—elementary, intermediate, and advanced—this classification pertains solely to the degree of technical finger dexterity required for performance. Some pieces categorized as elementary or intermediate may nonetheless demand mature expressive content. This aspect will be addressed in the commentary for each individual piece.
