From the Composer
The piano collection "White Wings" — "Les Ailes blanches", consisting of seven pieces, was gradually composed over two years, from 2003 to 2004. If musical miniatures were to be transposed into the literary realm, they would be essays or short stories, but this collection is not a compilation of essays; rather, it is a collection of short stories. Each piece embodies a unique thematic concern, and the composer confronted and addressed these challenges individually. This collection is a record of my process of self-exploration during this period. As is the destiny of creation, dissatisfaction arises after a period of stability, and the search for the next self-discovery begins. The approximate total performance time for the entire collection is 24 to 25 minutes. The performance time for each piece is approximate. The world premiere of the entire collection took place on July 5, 2006, at the "Toshiya Sukegawa 77th Birthday Commemorative Concert" held at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall in Tokyo, with Rica Miyatani as the performer.
