The third piece is an etude resembling a tremolo, featuring alternating octaves and single notes. In sections where both hands play this pattern, the octaves and single notes are displaced. Furthermore, in sections where only one hand plays this pattern, it forms a polyrhythm. Although written in 6/8 time, this piece also incorporates rhythms and articulations characteristic of 3/4 time, exhibiting a complex structure. Incidentally, although Scriabin initially marked the beginning of this piece with the indication Tempestoso, he reportedly disliked it, feeling that the term did not adequately convey the character of the piece.
