Moto perpetuo

Allegretto, E major, 3/8 time. This title, also 'Moto perpetuo' in Italian, may have been conceived with Paganini's piece of the same name in mind. However, it is not simply a matter of playing blindly fast; the instructions specify 'sempre legato' (always legato) and 'dolce e tranquillo, non troppo presto e molto grazioso' (sweetly and calmly, not too fast and very gracefully). Furthermore, at the beginning, it is noted in parentheses 'senza pedale' (without pedal), making it truly an etude for 'jeu perlé' (pearl-like playing).
