This movement, inscribed at the outset with the words roughly, wildly, and stubbornly persistently, is characterized by extreme intensity and strong rhythmic elements. Two-beat and three-beat measures alternate bar by bar, surging and receding like waves, progressing towards an explosive release of energy. The exhilaration upon its release is tremendous! It is no exaggeration to say that the charm of Ginastera's works lies precisely here.

The fourth movement features intense percussive elements and ostinato-like features, which are characteristic elements of the malambo often found in the final movements of Ginastera's works. The time signature indicated in the score, 3/8 = 6/16, also reveals the characteristic features of hemiola (sesquialtera), which forms the basis of the malambo. Moreover, the transformation of the same melodic pattern into an ingeniously varied expression each time it reappears, such as the single-note melody in the right hand later emerging as a two-hand octave canon, is truly characteristic of Ginastera.
