This is a collection of piano miniatures, comprising 17 pieces in total. As the work was written for children, all pieces are given charming titles reminiscent of the world of picture books. Performing the entire collection constructs a single narrative, with the joyful interactions and playful scenes of the story's characters meticulously depicted through colorful harmonic changes. Furthermore, elements of “dialogue,” characteristic of Hirayoshi, who excelled in composing choral works, can be found in each piece. Although written with a small number of notes, the skillful use of counterpoint creates a sense of spaciousness that extends beyond the notes actually written. Musically, all pieces feature a light and bright character, utilizing staccato, dotted rhythms, and mixed meters, making it an optimal collection for fostering children's sense of rhythm. Technically, the difficulty ranges widely from the Beyer level to beyond its completion; however, Piece No. 11, “Let's Dance Through the Festival Night”, is quite challenging, employing time signatures such as 6/8 + 5/8, and Piece No. 13, “A Rambling Story”, is also a work for adults requiring finger independence.
