Tempo di marcia, 4/2 time signature. The music begins with a lighthearted melody in C major. This piece is characterized by lively appoggiaturas, accents, and staccatos. The appoggiaturas and accents in measures 1 and 2 express the tonic chord and dominant seventh chord of C major; care should be taken to avoid a uniform timbre. From measure 17, a mysterious melody unfolds within the harmony of B-flat minor. It would be effective to play with a heavier sound, changing the atmosphere from before. From the anacrusis of measure 26, the right and left hands repeat the same ascending and descending figuration. The harmony in D major from measure 33 should ideally be expressed with a brighter, more joyful sound. From measure 41, the opening C major melody returns. The piece concludes quietly on the tonic chord.
