Moderato tranquillo, 2/4 time. This piece is characterized by the repeated second intervals in the inner voices. The opening begins softly and quietly, as if the same note had been continuously sounding. From measure 5, it would be effective to express the change in timbre, which is clearly presented as a melody in quarter notes. For the staccato in measure 11, be careful not to bounce too lightly or disrupt the piece's atmosphere. The accent on the C note at the anacrusis of measure 19 should express a sense of otherness, rather than merely a change in dynamics. From measure 21, the music shifts to a flat key area. From measure 45, it seems to return to the opening melody, but it inherits the B note from the latter half, adding depth. The piece concludes quietly, as if fading away.
