The left-hand playing style, which depicts the swaying of water and the movement of a small boat, is very important. The tenuto on the second and fourth beats should maintain their full duration without becoming heavy, conveying a sense of propulsion within the sound. In measures 4 and 7-8, the inner voice of the left hand becomes more active. It seems as if the small boat moves differently than before, influenced by the unpredictable movements of the water. Do not simply gloss over these sections; carefully trace the movement of the notes.
From measure 9, the tonality changes to A minor. Carefully listen to the chromatic horizontal lines and savor the changes in harmonic light and shadow created when combined with the right hand. Regarding the left hand in the subsequent measure 15, the composer's "Practice Guide" written at the end of the score states: "The left hand in measure 15, 'Sol-Do-La-Sol,' is an important motif. Play it subtly and beautifully." Since the left hand's 'Sol-Do-La-Sol' follows each of the right hand's long notes 'Mi-Mi-Mi-Re-Re,' playing them in a responsive manner should create a beautiful sound.
The right-hand melody is generally required to be played with a clear tone and legato, but the repeated notes within the motif should be played carefully to sound legato. It seems that the composer intended for the opening motif, with its legato repeated notes, to naturally enhance focus on touch and sound.
