As the title suggests, this piece is designed to teach the concepts of "light = major key, forte" and "shadow = minor key, piano". The "light" section (measures 1-8) begins in the high register of the right hand, while the "shadow" section (from measure 9) starts in the low register of the left hand. Please try to experience this difference in atmosphere.
While the melody is written with staccato throughout, a clear contrast can be achieved by playing the "light" section with very short and sharp staccato, and the "shadow" section with a softer staccato. Furthermore, the physical sensation of power within your body will likely differ when playing the "light" section compared to the "shadow" section. While this can be described as tension and release, it is also important to pay attention to the actual physical changes you feel within your body. It is crucial to use teaching materials with such contrasting elements to connect imagery, sound, and physical sensation.
