Composed in 1978. In E-flat major. In 2/4 time. In A-B-A ternary form. The right and left hands each play independent voices. A motif consisting of a dotted rhythm, two sixteenth notes, and an eighth note richly overlaps in the mid to high registers. Frequent modulations occur to keys a whole step above (E-flat major → F-sharp minor → G minor → A minor → B minor), with the music finally returning to the tonic key at measure 10. The B section modulates to B major, with the right hand playing the main melody and the left hand providing the accompaniment.
