The theme spans four measures (measures 1-4, right hand). A characteristic feature of this movement is that the theme itself ascends sequentially, measure by measure, as if in a sequence (though not literally so). Other thematic materials also ascend measure by measure (e.g., measures 22-25, 46-49, 83-86).
In contrast to these ascending materials, the processed materials are sequences, appearing as descending sequences of four measures or eight measures (2 measures x 4).
If one applies a crescendo to the ascending materials as indicated by the material itself, and a diminuendo to the descending sequences, the piece will constantly progress by repeating this upward and downward motion, which is in a sense ideal. Please ensure that the performance does not become monotonous.
Even with the ascending theme, when it modulates to F major, it is permissible to give it a slightly softer sound than the D minor theme. The entire F major section may not need to be as vibrant (from measure 28 onwards). Subsequently, it modulates to A minor. Here, too, change the color.
This movement, even in D minor, is not serious; rather, it is a joyful movement. Consider it to possess characteristics such as vibrancy, energy, and speed, similar to Bach's Invention in D minor.
