Character and Tempo
The character of this fugue is very optimistic. There is no serious aspect whatsoever. It is neither solemn, nor fantastical, nor majestic; it is purely a "joyful" piece. Therefore, a somewhat quick tempo is desirable, and a relatively fast tempo brings out the charm of the piece more effectively.
Articulation
Consequently, for articulation, the eighth notes should be played staccato to create a sense of lightness.
The Theme
The theme spans from the beginning of measure 1 to the second beat of measure 4. While this is fundamental to a fugue, the theme should always be given the highest priority; therefore, when the theme appears, ensure it is clearly discernible. Furthermore, as the tonality changes, differentiate the theme's character by varying its timbre and dynamics according to the respective key.
Balance of Note Values
Regarding advice for sections other than the theme: in a piece like this, where sixteenth notes are constantly running and longer note values such as eighth notes or quarter notes are added, the priority should be to make the notes with larger values most audible. Reducing the volume as the note value decreases will make the music much easier to listen to.
