No. 13
This piece is by Carl Czerny (1791-1857), a German composer, pianist, and music educator. It is composed in the style of a spinning song (Spinnlied). Notable compositions in this style include Schubert's Lied, Gretchen am Spinnrade, D118 (1814) and Mendelssohn's 'Spinning Song,' the fourth piece from Book 6 of his Songs Without Words, Op. 67 No. 4 (1845). Both works are characterized by rapid sixteenth-note swirling figures that emulate the rotation of a spinning wheel.

No. 26
A piece by Carl Czerny (1791-1857), a German composer, pianist, and music educator. It is an etude for repeated notes, with the tempo marking "Allegretto vivace (lively Allegretto)" indicated throughout the piece. Such repeated notes are also found in Domenico Scarlatti's (1685-1757) Sonata in D minor, K. 141, composed while he served the Spanish Queen. Repeated notes evoke the sounds of guitars and castanets used in Spanish music, and are further linked to the exotic atmosphere of Spain.
