The series "Homage to Apollo" consists of eight works with different scorings, a collection dedicated to eight 20th-century Italian composers who inspired me in my youth.

The third piece, "Autumn Moment," takes its title from Gian Francesco Malipiero's "Autumn Preludes" (Preludi Autunnali, 1914), but has little musical connection to Malipiero. Amidst the gentle autumn breeze, one senses the approaching signs of winter. Although it has tonality, it is an irregular A major with an unstable tonic. This eight-piece series has a "hidden side": it depicts the Eight Great Youths (Hachidai Doji), the attendants of Fudo Myoo. This piece represents the third of these, Anokudatta Doji.
