Scriabin's early style, especially in works like Etude Op. 8, is often noted for its similarity to Chopin's, and this work also reflects that tendency. Furthermore, it shares a similar atmosphere with works such as Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2(composed around 1901).
Due to Scriabin's characteristic diverse use of cross-rhythms and other elements, the technical difficulty is high. While it possesses a beautiful musical character that well expresses the emotion of the late Romantic period, it is performed significantly less often compared to Rachmaninoff's works.
