Chopin's Etude (Op. 25, No. 2) with a second piano part added by Henselt. Presto, 2/2 time, F minor. Chopin's original piece focuses on the rhythmic independence between the hands, delicate soft legato playing, and the flexibility of the arms and wrists, and is known for its melancholic musical character accompanied by a unique sense of floating. Henselt's second piano part repeatedly sings a long-breathed original melody, primarily consisting of quarter notes and half notes, and a short cadenza is added at the end, as if lingering. When performed as a duo for two pianos, the roles are reversed, and the intricate right-hand passages of the original piece take on the character of ornamentation for the second piano. Although the second piano's melody is simple, it weaves a polyrhythm with the first piano's left-hand triplets, creating a brilliant effect. It can be said to be a good example demonstrating Henselt's deep understanding and interpretation of Chopin.
