A commissioned work for the opening of the two-piano concert "Time for Piano Duo," organized by Tomoko Tamura. This comical piece begins with a dazzling and flamboyant intro, followed by a dizzying series of modulations like a rollercoaster, before riding a large wave (a glissando by Piano II) to drift ashore onto a paradise island in the south. Perform it lightly, riding the salsa rhythm, while being careful not to delay notes after rests.
As this piece naturally energizes the venue with its vocalizations, it is recommended not only for concert openings but also for endings, encores, and other occasions.
The score is written for a formation of two pianos, eight hands, plus four percussionists (with instrument changes), but it can also be performed with only two pianos.
Please note that additional notes are added to Piano I [Primo] only when performing without percussion. Furthermore, when performing with pianos only, it may be easier to synchronize if you begin playing after blowing the samba whistle from the intro (measures 5 to the first beat of measure 8). For more details, please refer to the full score.
