This is one of the well-known Russian folk songs, a tune sung by a drunkard. The melody was used as the "third theme" in Balakirev's orchestral work Overture on Three Russian Themes No. 1, and also in the "Dance of the Wet-Nurses" from Scene 4 of Stravinsky's ballet Petrushka.
