A rural dance song transcribed in Pramaina village, Simbirsk province. Khorovod (Хороводная) is generally translated as 'round dance' (ronde), but it differs entirely from Western European rondos in its origin and musical form. This folk song was included in Balakirev's 40 Russian Folk Songs, which he arranged, and its melody is quoted as the third theme in Balakirev's symphonic poem Rus.
