A folk song included in "40 Russian Folk Songs," collected by Balakirev himself during his travels along the Volga River. Tchaikovsky, after obtaining permission from Balakirev to use this collection of folk songs, arranged it as a piano duet, slightly modifying the melody, and furthermore, used it as the theme for the fourth movement of his "Serenade for Strings."
