Composed in 1838, this work was published in 1968, after Chopin's death and into the 20th century. This Andantino, written in G minor, is a piano arrangement of Chopin's song of the same name (Op. 74, No. 2). Rather, it is very close to the piano part of that song itself. Therefore, conversely, it can be said that the piano part of Chopin's song, revisited here, can stand as an independent piece in itself.

This work is in 6/8 time and takes the form of a ternary structure. Its middle section is not composed of entirely new material, but rather by transposing the main theme to B-flat major, the relative major of the tonic key.
