A witty collection comprising six short pieces. The overall musical character is structured as if depicting cats through sound. It is brimming with playfulness, featuring elements such as a languid triple meter (First piece), nimble, floating rhythms (Second piece), sounds that subtly deviate from a sense of tonality played at pp (Third piece), a piece that rushes to an end in just seven measures (Fourth piece), a thoroughly out-of-tune waltz with the right hand in A major and the left hand in E-flat major (Fifth piece), and a piece that seems pointillistic only to suddenly introduce cluster chords (Sixth piece). Due to its descriptive nature, it would be an enjoyable and challenging contemporary work for intermediate to advanced players.
A copy of the manuscript is available from the Australian Music Centre library.
