Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1975. Graduated from the Postgraduate Research Course in Composition at Tokyo College of Music.
Studied composition under Yoshito Abe, Reiko Arima, Sei Ikeno, and Yutaka Fujiwara.
- 1995: Selected for the Composition Division of the 6th Sogakudo Japanese Song Competition.
- 2002: His work was adopted as a set piece for Grade E of the 26th PTNA Piano Competition.
- 2003: Won 4th prize in the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award for Hoshinagebito (judged by George Benjamin).
- 2004: Nominated for the 14th Akutagawa Award for Music Composition with the same work.
- 2005: His work was featured at the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival in Norway, during the "Yasutaka Hemmi & Aki Takahashi Duo Recital."
- 2006: Received the Excellence Award at the 1st Japan Guitar Music Composition Competition.
- 2006: Won 1st prize (no 2nd prize awarded) in the Composition Division of the 2nd Osaka International Mandolin Competition.
- 2009: Won 1st prize in the Composition Division of the 20th Sogakudo Japanese Song Competition.
- 2010: Received the 2nd Yamakyo Composition Award 21.
Since 2006, he has served as Composer-in-Residence for Ensemble Roca. Resides in Saitama Prefecture. Lecturer at Tsukuba Music Academy.
