Norwegian composer. From 1874, he studied at the Leipzig Conservatory, and from 1880 to 1882, he also studied in Berlin, Dresden, and Munich. From 1921 to 1922, he was invited to the Eastman School of Music in the United States, where he also taught younger generations; however, from 1890, he devoted himself to composition with the support of the Norwegian government.
