Swiss composer. His music is characterized by diatonicism based on Neoclassicism. Initially, he studied history and philology. His stay in Paris in his late teens, where he was impressed by the works of Debussy, Milhaud, and Honegger prompted him to pursue music. He studied under Orff and others at the Munich University of Music. While Sutermeister also composed music for films and television programs, the core of his creative output lies in his operatic works. He also composed choral works characterized by their accessibility.
