Italian composer. He co-authored with Casella, La Tecnica dell’orchestra moderna (Modern Orchestration) (1947, revised edition 1950).
He studied with Bossi and Pizzetti at the Milan Conservatory. Initially active as a pianist, he later dedicated himself to composition and music education. Influenced by his teacher Pizzetti, he composed orchestral works and operas in a neoclassical style.
He taught music at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice and the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, where he also served as Vice-Director. Additionally, he served as the General Manager of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
