Born in Tokyo, he graduated at the top of his class from Tokyo University of the Arts and its graduate school. While specializing in vocal works such as opera and choral music, he also has unique piano compositions, including the “Mr. Blue Island” series, known for its light and witty narrative style, and “Mon Père l'Oye” (a play on Ravel's “Ma Mère l'Oye”), based on Japanese folk tales.
