He studied composition under Mareo Ishiketa and Yoshio Mamiya at Tokyo University of the Arts, and under Teizo Matsumura in graduate school. He was also a literary enthusiast, and this interest is reflected in works such as Requiem I "Jigoku Zoshi", Requiem II "Tenmei Mizunoto-U Toshi Tokoro-dokoro Sodo Tomegaki", and Chinkon: Sen Jonan, which utilize texts from historical literature. In 1992 (Heisei 4), he received the 2nd Akutagawa Award for Music Composition for Hitotsu no So-byo: Piano to Orchestra ni Yoru II (A Sketch II for Piano and Orchestra). He served as an associate professor at Toho Gakuen Junior College but passed away at the age of 46. In 2002, a memorial collection titled Sasayaka na Kioku (Subtle Memories) was published by his father.
