Born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. Began piano at age three under the guidance of their mother. After withdrawing from the Piano Performance major, Department of Instrumental Music, Tokyo College of Music, they entered the Department of Musicology, Tokyo University of the Arts. They graduated from the same university and completed the Master's program in Musicology at the same university's Graduate School of Music. After graduation, they served as a part-time assistant (lecturer) at their alma mater. They studied piano under the late Setsuko Kokuya, the late Sachiko Maekawa, Kazuko Aruga, Jiro Yoneya, Shin Makino, and Hirofumi Nagao; pipe organ under Yoshiko Ueda, Makiko Hayashima, Brian Ashley, Kazuo Kono, and Junko Nishio; and musicology under Ichiro Kadokura and Eizaburo Tsuchida. They are a member of the Musicological Society of Japan and a regular member of the Japan Federation of Musicians.
