Italian composer. He also performed on the harpsichord. He is known as a pioneer in composing sonatas for the harpsichord. After studying music with A. Lotti, he became the harpsichordist at the Teatro della Pergola in Florence. Upon moving to Venice, he also undertook the composition of operas and oratorios. He served as both Vice-Maestro di Cappella and Maestro di Cappella at St. Mark's Basilica.
