French composer. He also wrote extensively on music. Initially, he studied law, but he turned to music and studied under Chausson, d'Indy, Bordes, and Dukas at the Schola Cantorum. His output is small, including works such as the Fantaisie élégiaque composed for Thibaud and Cortot.
As a writer, Samazeuilh contributed critiques to newspapers and magazines both in France and abroad. He also authored works concerning his teachers, Dukas and Chausson. He also undertook translations, creating French versions of works by composers such as Wagner, Schumann, Strauss, Schubert, and Liszt.
