A composer born in the Czech Republic. He was also a violinist. After studying at the Prague Conservatory, he was active mainly in Germany. In addition to serving as Kapellmeister for the Prince of Fürstenberg's orchestra in Donaueschingen, he also pursued musical activities as a solo violinist and composer. He also had interactions with Liszt and the Schumanns. Besides works for solo piano, he also composed works for his own instrument, the violin, as well as operas, symphonies, concertos, overtures, and chamber music. His output numbers around 300 works.
