A pianist, composer, and music educator from Shilin, Taipei County, Taiwan.
He was one of the earliest pianists active in modern Taiwan. In 1930, he enrolled in Taipei Theological College and studied music. In 1934, he came to Japan and studied at Tokyo Union Theological Seminary. Meanwhile, in the special course at Tokyo Academy of Music, he studied harmony and composition under Eizaburo Kioka, and conducting under Hane Nakata.
In 1934, he became a member of the "Taiwan Hometown Visiting Orchestra" and undertook a performance tour from Tokyo to Taiwan. He is also known as a close friend of Jiang Wen-Ye.
