Argentine composer. In the mid-20th century, he composed works incorporating Argentine tango and personally engaged in conducting orchestras and playing the bandoneon.
Piazzolla, who traveled to the United States in 1924, studied bandoneon technique with André D'Aquila. After returning to Argentina in 1930, he dedicated himself to composition and performance, primarily in Buenos Aires. In 1955, he traveled to France and also studied under Nadia Boulanger. He formed groups such as Orquesta, the Buenos Aires Octet, and the Piazzolla Quintet, and engaged in diverse activities through tango, including collaborations with jazz musicians.
