An American composer. He gained early recognition, publishing his first work at the age of six and beginning his musical career at seventeen. Born in New York State, he studied piano and composition at the New York College of Music and the Juilliard School. In addition to regularly composing music for television and radio programs, he performed and conducted his own works. His style is characterized by its accessibility, achieved through the active incorporation of jazz idioms.
