Biography
Born in Osaka in 1956. Graduated from the Department of Composition, Tokyo University of the Arts, and completed graduate studies at the same university. Studied composition under Mareo Ishiketa, Kenjiro Urata, Yasuo Sueyoshi, and Toshiro Mayuzumi, and piano under Kazuko Shimomura, Akio Yashiro, and Takako Horie.
Awards and Exhibitions
Selected for the 4th Composition Award of the Japan Symphony Foundation, the Haydn Association Abruzzo Giubileo 2000 International Competition, FMW 2001 in Melbourne, and others. Held solo concerts featuring vocal and piano works in 2001 and 2005.
Current Positions
Currently a Professor at Yamanashi University, Lecturer at Showa University of Music, member of the Japan Federation of Composers, Japan Society for Contemporary Music, and Japan Society for Music Expression, and a councilor for the Yamaha Music Foundation and the Foundation for Music Culture Creation.
