French composer and violinist. He studied violin with Richard Hammer and Henri Vieuxtemps. At the age of 14, he entered the Paris Conservatoire and studied composition with Henri Reber.
He was devoted to Schumann and arranged Kinderszenen for orchestra. After being active in the field of salon music, he also composed operas, but they were not very successful. The "Berceuse" from Jocelyn is still popular today as "Jocelyn's Lullaby". He also composed symphonies, concertos, choral works, chamber music, piano pieces, and songs, among others.
