K 82 F major 3/8 Fuga
A four-voice fugue. However, since not all voices continuously present counter-subjects after the subject's exposition, the majority of the work is written for three or fewer voices. In the development section, the subject is concentrated in the lower voices (m. 49 in D minor, m. 64 in A minor, m. 80 in C major), and in the stretto from m. 99, the subject appears in the upper voices for the first time since the exposition. In the subsequent long interlude, sequences utilizing the subject's motive are developed, and after a modulation process, the work's final subject appears in the tonic key at m. 161. Here, the return to the tonic key is emphasized by the repetition of the latter half of the subject, along with an arpeggiated chord and a tonic pedal point in the upper voice with a trill. At the end of the piece, the cadence is prepared by a dominant pedal in the bass.
