Kyokichi Tanaka, a printmaker known for the book design and illustrations of Sakutaro Hagiwara's poetry collection "Howling at the Moon," left behind numerous works, including tanka (short poems) and poetry, under the pseudonym Tanaka Michi, before his untimely death at the age of 23.

The composer had long desired to set his works to music ever since encountering "The Kyokichi Tanaka Exhibition" held at a museum in Machida City in 2000.

In this work, five poems were selected from "Yoru no Me Tanka Sanjuni" (Thirty-Two Tanka of Night Buds) and arranged into four short songs.
