Composed around 1898, when the composer was approximately 13 years old. Together with Barcarolle Op. 4, Song Without Words Op. 5, Butterfly Op. 6, Impromptu Op. 9(a), and Song Without Words Op. 10, it was published in 1902 by the Budapest-based publisher Harmonia as Sechs Klavierstücke (Six Piano Pieces). These early works clearly show the influence of Romantic composers such as Mendelssohn (especially his Songs Without Words), Grieg (his Lyric Pieces), Tchaikovsky, and Schumann (his character pieces). Each piece, with its very simple and naive style, showcases Dora's clear, youthful, and fresh sensibility.
This is a charming minuet with a cantabile trio in its middle section.
