The original song (Farm Girl) was composed in 1948. This delightful yet gentle piece was performed as a male vocal ensemble during the 1974 performance of the Mansudae Art Troupe in Japan, and was well-received among Koreans residing in Japan and students. The composer of this piece, Hwang Hak-geun, had representative works such as the a cappella choral piece 'Boat Song of Bossongbo,' but tragically died young at the age of 26 during the Korean War. Amidst swaying waves of grain, the figure of a girl, overflowing with the joy of a bountiful harvest and toiling in the reaping, is brilliantly illuminated by the dazzling autumn sunlight. An elegant melody that evokes such a scene carries the scent of rice stalks.
