'Ethno-logue' is a title meaning something akin to 'ethnic tales.' In this work, I attempted to set to melody the 'Cao Mo Chapter,' an excerpt from 'Suite: Biographies of Assassins,' a poetic work by Mr. Kibe Yohojin, which was inspired by Sima Qian's Records of the Grand Historian: Biographies of Assassins. Records of the Grand Historian contains the biographies of five assassins: Cao Mo, Zhuan Zhu, Yu Rang, Nie Zheng, and Jing Ke. The phrase 'A scholar dies for one who knows him' is a saying by Yu Rang of Jin, which I adopted as a symbol of assassins. I plan to set the entire 'Suite: Biographies of Assassins' to music in the future.
