This piece allows for various interpretations and playing techniques, but I will offer advice based on my personal opinion. Although marked Allegretto, setting too slow a tempo will result in a sluggish or heavy feel. Play with sharp, short, staccato notes, lightly, in an invigorating and sprightly manner. Furthermore, set the tempo such that the repeated notes in measure 10 can be played smoothly.
The piece is in ABA form, with A in E minor and B in the relative major, G major. From this point onward, it becomes subjective, but which key do you feel has more tension? Which key feels stronger? There is no single correct answer, and it is ultimately left to the performer, but it is crucial not to play both keys identically; always strive to create a difference in color. Incidentally, I personally would play E minor strongly and G major softly, but this is not a strict requirement.
For reference, please listen to the excellent and ideal performance by Nozomu Sugawara, available on the PTNA website.
