《Piano Pieces "Oto no Shiori" (Bookmarks of Sound)》 (2005) is a compilation of pieces that were serialized in each issue of the bulletin of "Miyoshi Net" (established April 1, 2000), a membership organization dedicated to studying the 《Miyoshi Piano Method》 (12 volumes in total), newly devised by Akira Miyoshi for Japanese piano learners. It consists of 25 pieces, with a difficulty level suitable for intermediate players, intended to be used as a supplementary collection for Volumes 5 and 6 of the "Piano Method." Many pieces are lyrical, featuring impressive titles and gentle harmonies, such as:
- "Ohayō Yamagara" (Good Morning, Varied Tit), full of rhythmic vitality.
- "Sayonara no Mae ni" (Before Goodbye), with chromatic melodic lines and harmonies.
- "Ayatori" (Cat's Cradle), frequently employing syncopated rhythms.
- "Mizutama Bukubuku" (Bubbling Polka Dots), requiring hand crossing.
- "Utau Kagami" (Singing Mirror) and "Utau Mado" (Singing Window), which are polyphonic.
Many pieces feature modern French harmonic or modal voice leading. While sight-reading requires a certain level of concentration, the carefully notated fingerings naturally adapt to hand movements, thus ensuring an enjoyable playing experience.
