The first five pieces are written in D minor, E minor, F major, G minor, and A minor, respectively. Considering this sequence, the final piece should logically be in B-flat major or B-flat mode. However, although Pachelbel uses a key signature of two flats, the actual piece is in F minor due to accidentals. Furthermore, unlike the other pieces which are in 4/4 time, only the final piece is in 3/4 time. The subtitle "Sebaldina" is thought to be related to St. Sebaldus Church, where Pachelbel received musical education from a musician during his youth, but nothing is certain. In any case, it is undeniable that Pachelbel entrusted a special intention to this final piece.
