This Gigue is structured such that the progression before the cadenza is fixed, followed by a modulation. For example, a descending sequence begins from bar 5, continues downwards until bar 10, then, via a pedal point (where the bass is fixed), an ascending sequence follows, leading to a modulation to A-flat major in bar 13.
This pattern is systematized, leading to modulations to C minor and F minor. While this is the author's personal impression, the tension seems to significantly increase upon modulating to C minor.
The dynamic control for these descending sequences, immediately followed by ascending sequences, would likely be effectively executed with diminuendo and crescendo respectively.
The performer should then decide the appropriate timbre and volume for each key, aiming to perform it as a dramatic Gigue. With its modulation to C minor and ending with a Picardy third (bar 24), this Gigue possesses very high tension.
