This étude can be challenging for pianists with small hands. In measure 1, for the last notes of beat 1, A-C, using a 2-4 fingering allows you to take H-D in the next beat with a 3-5 fingering. Subsequently, by taking the last notes of beat 2, A-C, with a 3-5 fingering, you can then take G-H in beat 3 with a 2-4 fingering. However, this might be quite a demanding task for pianists with small hands. As an alternative option, one could also take the last A-C of beat 1 with 3-5, the first H-D of beat 2 also with 3-5, the last A-C of beat 2 with 3-5, and the first G-H of the next beat also with 3-5. However, this consecutive 3-5 to 3-5 fingering carries the risk of becoming quite harsh and rigid if not executed precisely. Naturally, this depends on diligent practice.
The former approach, 2-4 → 3-5, 3-5 → 2-4, reduces the risk. As another suggestion, for example, in measure 1, there is also a method of playing all D notes in the right hand part with the left hand. This significantly eases the right hand's task. Of course, this method cannot be applied to all measures, but it is particularly effective in passages where a light touch (p) is required. We encourage you to try this.
