This 12-volume textbook was compiled by Akira Miyoshi over 20 years as a replacement for "Beyer," which has been used for many years in Japanese piano education. The first edition was published in 1997, initially comprising 8 volumes, with "Hibiki no Mori" Volumes 1 and 2 serving as supplementary repertoire collections. When the revised edition was released in 2008, the supplementary pieces were integrated into the main method, resulting in the 12-volume set. The method consists of 12 propositions (tasks/theses) and aims to guide children from their initial introduction to the piano up to the level of playing pieces comparable in difficulty to the "Sonatina Album." It departs from the limitations of conventional textbooks, such as "right-hand melody, left-hand accompaniment" and "restricted tonalities." Instead, it incorporates major and minor keys up to six sharps/flats, musical styles from Baroque to modern, and techniques ranging from polyphony to modern harmony, structuring the acquisition of piano performance skills not linearly but spirally. Although it is a textbook, every piece demands musical expression conscious of timbre and articulation, and explanations are provided to simultaneously foster theoretical knowledge.
